June is here, goodness how things have changed in a year . We are still here plodding on , cooking, eating and walking the dogs. There is still some painting to do outside so hopefully the sun will shine and that will give us something to keep us amused!
June is a lovely month in the Dales, the hay meadows are an abundance of wildflowers and Muker meadows are probably one of the best examples. The farmers cut the hay at the end of June and would usually be a busy month for us as our guests come specially to see these meadows. Just before the carpet of flowers we have the bluebells and the walk in Askrigg to Mill Gill waterfall is lovely, just as the bluebells are starting to come out.
We had some lovely social distancing celebrations in Askrigg for VE Day, we did our own little bit with the tractor!! The sun shone and people were out in their front gardens with BBQ’s to raise a glass to the war veterans.
We hope everyone is keeping safe and we will be here to welcome guests back as soon as it’s safe to do so. We are missing the B and B life, it’s very quiet here on the whole. So for now I’m signing off. Stay in touch with us, we do try and keep some contact going on social media so please follow us if you don’t already and you can keep up to date with developments.
If you haven’t already thought about next year, make some plans. Our booking diary is open and we already are taking bookings for next year. Some of our guests who have cancelled have just moved the booking on a year so don’t miss out on your trip to Askrigg. Before international travel is safe again we expect to see a boom in UK stays – everyone needs a change of scenery!
See you soon,
Jo and Bernie
