We’re a little later posting our monthly blog post this month but with good reason! At the end of January, I headed to Bristol to visit my sister. It was a lovely chance to catch up and spend some time with her. However, I then headed to West Wales to the Abaca Organic factory. If you’ve been keeping up with our monthly blogs for a while you’ll know that Abaca makes organic, handmade mattresses completely from scratch. We decided to invest in mattresses for the king-size/twin room and luxury mattress toppers to our two double bedrooms.
I have been talking to Rhiannon, the founder of Abaca for a few months now about what would be best for the B&B, and of course for our guests. We are always making changes to the rooms to improve your experience when you come and stay here in the Yorkshire Dales and if we can make your stay even more comfortable then the new Abaca mattresses were worth the investment! I really do care about how you sleep when you book a stay with us. You won’t enjoy your trip anywhere near as much if you’re running on empty so what better way to set you up for a day exploring then with an amazing night’s sleep followed by a full Yorkshire breakfast? We may only be a small B&B tucked away in Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales, but we want you to feel just as comfortable, if not more so than you would when staying in an upmarket hotel!
Anyway, a little about Abaca and why we chose the brand for B&B! Abaca has over 30 years of experience within the mattress industry before they began creating and manufacturing their own products their founder, Rhiannon, worked within another company and felt that she could bring something new to the market...so Abaca was born! The mattresses are handmade from the very best organic and natural materials including Welsh wool. Rhiannon wanted to offer bedding and mattresses free from chemicals which are heavily used within the industry to create the necessary fabrics. Abaca mattresses and bedding are made using no pesticides or herbicides so they are completely natural from start to finish.

In other news, we’re gearing up for National B&B Week, ran by Eviivo. Similar to our early bird offer which ends at the end of February, book to stay with us for 2 nights or more and receive a £5 discount per night. As the peak season approaches, we are beginning to fill up but watch out for any last-minute offers.
We’re looking forward to another busy year with some fabulous events coming to the Dales including the Tour De Yorkshire. We can already feel the buzz around this event building up as the organisers have decided to return to the area to support the community following last years awful flooding. Leyburn has even been chosen as a finishing town so there’ll be lots going on, we have limited availability so it’s not too late to book to stay with us throughout the event and in the built up before.
